FIGHTING AT CALICUT
MOPLAHS SUFFER SEVERELY
DELHI, Oct. 0. An engagement between a detachment of the Suffolk regiment and a body of Moplahs resulted in fifty of the latter being killed. Another engagement is reported at Manargliat, but no details are available. . Reinforcenientsi are gathering at Calicut in preparation for more extended operations against the rebels, wlio are reported to be continuing the slaughter of Hindoos refusing to join Islam. Hundreds of MopEihs "who participated in the rising are being arrested daily. The self-crowned Rajah of Tirur, and some other leaders, received sentences of seven years’ imprisonment;— A. and N.Z.C.A.
