SWIM Aft NG NOTES. A now swimming record for 200 ya» was established in New York on August G bv Ethelda Bleibtrey, who covered the distance in 2min 30 l-ssec, thus wiping off the Ijoolc Charlotte Boyle’s 2min 3Sseo. The swim was made in a 25-yard tank.
A world’s record for the 100yds breast stroke in open water was made'at San Diego, California, recently by Alike McDermott, of the Illinois Athletic Club. AlcDermott’s time was luliii 13 3-ssec.
A young Danish natator, Aliss Emelia Gade, 22 years, old, swam completely around Manhattan Island, New York, on .Tune, 2G. a distance of about 40 miles, in 15 hours 57 minutes. It is said that Aliss Gade, who is a swimming instructress at the Harlem branch of the ALAV.C.A., is the second woman ever to accomplish this feat.
