BOXING.

SCHOOL OF* AMATEUR BOXING. SOCIAL AND DANCE ON FRIDAY. On Friday next, October 7, at the Assembly Hall at S p.m., a social and dance will be held, tlie proceeds of which will go lo the equipment of the Gisborne School of Amateur Boxing. It is hoped flint a substantial sum will be obtained to add to the objects of the school. At present, liecause of misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of its real objects, the school is struggling along with very little public support. Mr F. Amoore hopes very soon, with fees from pupils, to make the school self-supporting. The whole of the funds in future (including fees from pupils) will be devoted entirely to the upkeep and .support of the school, and Air Amoore states that he will in no circumstances accept, for his- own personal use. any money accruing from the public for this purpose. Accounts will be kept which any interested person c-an inspect at any time. Self-defence, physical and moral health, and self-control are only a few of the things that this school teaches, and, being a school and not a club or associntion. the boys must, if necessary, be prepared to submit to discipline. Mr Leslie Reynolds lias donated the rent of the hall for to-morrow evening. Further particulars concerning the school will be published later. On Saturday night a second demonstration of boxing will be given at the same hall by amateurs and pupils.
