(AUSTRALIA v. WARWICKSHIRE. COLONIALS WIN BY INNINGS AND Cl RUNS. LONDON, August 9. The weather was fine and the wicket firm, after rolling. The attendance totalled 3000. On resuming, Armstrong declared at the overnight score, and Warwickshire went in again. Bates and Green faced Gregory and McDonald. The first four overs were maidens, and from the first seven only six runs were scored. In half an hour the total had reached 22, of which Bates claimed 20. At twenty-seven Armstrong relieved McDonald, and got Green stumped. Bates, when twentythree, played a yorlcer into the wicket. Quaife then partnered Charlesworth. At forty-three McDonald came back, vice Gregory,, u'nd off his first over Armstrong brilliantly caught Quaife. Charlesworth and Iloldsworth carried the total to sixty-three, the half century taking sixty-five minutes, at which stage Charlesworth was caught by Ryder. Just previously McDonald had dropped him off Armstrong.

The wickets fell fast after luncheon. Scorer failed to negotiate one of McDonald's full pitches. Holdsworth played the same bowler on. Smart spooned one to ’Collins. —7 for 89. Oldfield bagged Partridge. Cross partnered Rotherham, who was missed by Taylor in the longfield off .Armstrong when he had scored a single. Sandham made 123 and 95, Ducat 13 and 97, Hoivell 99, Hitch 71, Woolley 85 and 57, Seymour 98. Surrey were left with five hours in which to dismiss Kent, which result was achieved in the last minute, owing to Lockton taking three brilliant catches off his own bowling. LONDON, Aug. 10.
