QUEENSLAND POLITICS.
A COLORLESS PROGRAMME. (Received Aug. 10, 5 p.m.) BRISBANE, Aug. 10. The Governor’s speech at the opening of Parliament was largely colorless. The proposals include insurance against unemployment, widening the scope of the Workers’ Compensation Act; extension of railways to open up the western and north-western areas; the abolition of capital punishment. An early local loan of three millions is foreshadowed. NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. BRISBANE, Aug. 10. In the Legislative Assembly Mr. Vowles gave notice of motion that the Government did not possess the confidence of the electors' because of its incapacity to conduct the business. The House thereupon adjourned.— U.P.A.
