AERIAL MAIL SERVICE. SYDNEY. Aug. 9 The Postal Department has decided to institute a tri-weekly aerial mail service between Svdnev and Broken Hill. THE NAVIGATION ACT. SYDNEY, Aug. S. Mr Lawson declared the Government would be a Socialistic masquerader in Liberal garments if it had not refused to continue the wheat pool system. Every Liberal and National Government- stood for control of Hie productive industries by private enterprise. The proposal for a wheat-growers’ compulsory pool was an in-talrn- nt cf revolutionary syndicalism in Y reform U.P.A.
44-HOUR WEEK CONTROVERSY. . (Received Aug. 9. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug? 9. In connection with the application to extend the 44-hour week to the railway service, counsel for the Commissioners stated that the working expenses of the railways and tramways for the past, year had increased by £1,640,000 over the previous year, largely as the result of increased pay. A reduction in hours would mean a iurthvr large increase in expenses.— U.P.A. AUSTRALIAN STEEPLES.
