RESTRICTIONS FURTHER TIGHTENED IN SYDNEY.
PUBLIC BUILDINGS BEING PREPARED FOR HOSPITALS. Australian and N.Z. Cabl» Association. (Received March 29. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. March 218. In view of tlie continued seriousness of the spread, of influenza and the increasing death-rate, restrictions are being further tightened. A number of schools are being closed. Emergency preparations include taking over a number of public buildings for hospital purposes. The infected areas now include many country districts. Latest reports from Victoria show that there is renewed vitality and an increase in the number of deaths, though this may be a temporary “spurt.” South Australia and Tasmania both report that the plague is getting a wider hold. There are a number of deaths.
(Received March 30. 1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 30. There were twenty-one fresh influenza deaths and 165 eases in the past two days.
