HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
Tllio Hospital Tnisttes met Hast evening. Present: Tho Hon. Capt. Tudker (in the chair), and Messrs A. Dewing, 11. Kenway, A. Fordo Matthews, R. Sherratt, E. H. Mann, and J. AV. Bright.. A letter was received from Mr. AV. L. Oatos, recommending tho installation of an X-ray apparatus at the Hospital. If it met with the approval of tho Board, lie would start a subscription. He believed it would cost about £loo.—The Chairman stated, in reply to Mr. Dewing, that tho new doctor would be able to wo tho 'instruments. —Mr. Bright staid that it. should come out of general expenses, as contributions in many cases came from the same people. At the same time lie was highly gratified at Mr. Oates’ proposal!.—The Chairman and Mr. Kenway agreed with Mr. Bright. Those who contributed wore usually not the people who used the hospital .—The Chairman proposed that a letter bo sent to Mr. Oates thanking him for his offer, hut stating that tho Trustees felt that if that plan was chosen, tho burden might not fall on the right shouldors.—Carried. Advice was received that the Hon. Capt. Tucker, and Messrs H. Kenway, A\’. D. S. Macdonald, A. Forde Matthews, and F. J. Lysnar had boon appointed to represent the County Council, and Messrs E. H. Maun and J. AA’. Bright the Borough Council, on tho Board. A telegram was received from Dr. Valintiuo, stating that he was unable to secure a house surgeon until after Christmas.
Tho Treasurer reported that the credit balance stood at £234 18s 9d. For the visiting committee, Air. Alatthows reported that a cottage for tho nurses was secured for a bonus of £5. He suggested a watertank in the Hospital for the prevention of fire.—Mr. Dewing objected to somo gas appliances, as they might interfere with the patients. It was thought that a four-inch pipe should be laid on. The matter was left to the incoming visiting committee.—lt was decided to ask the Borough Council to place a couple of hydrant: near the Hospital. In reply to Air Bright, Dr. AVilson, who was present, stated that one person had been dismissed for had language and disobedience. Air. Bright said ho thought it was a weak feature of the institution that all fees which should have been paid had not been. He thought the secretary should see that the Hospital got af.l possible in fees. The collections appealred inadequate to the list of patients. For convenience, tlio rooms now occupied by Aliss Stewart in the Hospital are to be devoted to tile house surgeon and the nurse. The patients at last report were 36;. 29 were admitted since then and 26 were discharged; one died and one was dismissed; leaving 37 at, date.
Accounts amounting to £329 8s 4 were passed for payment.
