A repatriation test case has been heard at Pretoria. The mineowners’ counsel ooutended that tbe posting of tbe notice amounted to an inducement to coolies to leave. Judgment was reserved.

In tbe House of Commons Mr Churohill said a Chinaman’s contribution to repatri' ation expenses was unnecessary in all oases, provided a bona fide desire to return was plainly manifest, The Tribunte declares that the Government have pledged themselves plainly that Chinese are free to quit, aud ought to tell the Chinese so equally plainly. Fremantle, May 9.
Fifty Australians returned by the steamer Evertou Grange from South Africa. There is a general feeling of disgust at the state of affairs in that country, and (hey are glad to get homo again.
