THE POLLARDS.
Three new people with English reputations, Lulu and Tom Evans aud Alice Edgar, arrived by the Monovvai to join Pollard's Opera Company, opeuiug hore on Boxing night. They were engaged by Mr 7. C. Williamsou. Miss Evans comes direct from the Loudon Savoy Theatre and Miss Edgar from the Graorgo Edwards Company in South Africa. Tom Evans lias been doiug music hall work. Maud Beatty lias loft the Pollards, and goes to Euglaad in May to take up an engagement in the English provinces BISHOP STUART.
The Right Rev. E. C. Stuart, accompanied by Miss Stuart, arrived by the Monowai. The Bishop, some eight, years ago, resigned the Bishopric of Waiapn in order to devote himself to missionary work in Persia. He was iSmppoiuted head of the Anglican Church Missionary Society’s Mission in Persia, and has since laboured zealously in that out-of-the-way' field. His daughter was also actively engaged in mission work in the same country. Bishop and Miss Stewart have received eighteen months’ furlough, and twcdvo months of the period will be spent in health recruiting in New Zealand, a portion in the Bishop’s old Diocese Oae of his daughters, Mrs Marsden Clarke, is resident in Napier.
