GISBORNE MAN IIAS WIN IN FIRST ROUND. liy Telegraph—l’ress Association. Auckland, last night. The first New Zealand golf championship meeting opened to-day on the new links at Green Dane. There is beautiful weather. To-day will he devoted to the first two rounds of the championship, for which there are 2d entries. The scinilinal 'kill he decided on Wednesday, and the final on Friday. In the golf championship, first round, lligginson (Wellington) defeated K. Duncan I Wellington) l>y one up at the 22nd hole. Rare Keiha defeated Hodgson (Wellington) by one up at the loth hole. Laurence (Auckland) defeated i’ierky (Wellington) 3 up and one to play. A. Duncan (Wellington) detested Kyd (Auckland), 9 up, 8 to play. IL.wden (Hutt) and Spott (Otago) were a!) square at the 18th hole, when Spott retired. Second Round. E. Welder, Christchurch, heat E. D.
