The Times correspondent at Dombay wires that Commander Pcarso, of the Pursius, inquired the object of a Turkish vessel’s visit to Kowezt, at the head of the Perian Gulf. Tko commander was informed that he had been instructed to land fivo hundred troops. Commander Pcarso advised the Turkish commander to return to Basra, but the vessel weighed anchor, and entered the harbor prepared to land the troops. The Persius immediately cleared the decks for action, and during the night kept a searchlight on the Turkish docks. The Turkish commander, in the morning, announced that he was returning to Fao, in order to communicate with Constantinople. The vessel remains at Fao.

Edhcm Pasha meanwhile is massing troops at Basra.

The Sheika of !Vlaraboukh have declined to accede to the request of the Vali of Basra to discourage the calls of British warships and steamers. Tho Times says that the Sheiks may count on British support. [Fao is tho terminus of the Constantinople line of telegraph, and is about 60 miles below Basra, and the Turkish vessel would remain there awaiting instructions. |
