THE ASSASSIN CZOLGOSZ.
AN ATTEMPT TO LYNCII THE MURDERER. GUARDS DRAW THEIR REVOLVERS. THE ATTEMPT FRUSTRATED. CZOLGOSZ SHRIEKS IN TERROR. Received 4.58 p.m., Sept. 29. In accordance with the decision of the Judge, the murderer Czolgosz was removed to Auburn prison, where he is to be electrocuted on the 28,tb of October. During the journey to the prison, Czolgosz, who remained reticent during the trial, referred to what had happened. He said that he regretted having perpetrated the crime, and he gave expression to his pity for the widow of tho murdered President. An exciting scene occurred neat the gaol in which Czolgosz -was confined. Hundreds of persons congrciwcted outside tire gaol. The crowd made a rush for the murderer with the intention of lynching him. The guards had great difficulty in protecting the prisoner under their charge. The attitude of the crowd became so menacing that the guards drew their revolvers, nod blows were exchanged between the guards and those attempting to wrest the murderer from their charge. Czolgosz was hustled, in a collapsed condition, to the floor of the prison, where he lay, shrieking in abject terror.
