GENERAL ITEMS. By Telegraph—Press Association. , Wellington, last night. Tho Wellington Building and Investment Society declares a dividend of nine per cent for the year. I-lis Excellency the Governor arrived from the South in tho Tutanokai this morning, and goes on North via the West Coast to-night. Tho Wellington Hospital Trustees have decided to co-operate with other Hospital Boards and the Board of Health in urging the Government to erect suitable buildings in various centres for the treatment of consumption. Pena Arorua Motu was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for assault at Otaki, tho Chief Justice remarking, however, that the case was one which flight well be investigated by the Executive Council. Mr Wilford, counsel for the defence, intends petitioning to that end.
