MAN GASSED BY LEAK FROM PIPE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Sept. 6 How a gas pipe had been repaired with the aid of some soaD and pieces of cloth was described bv Sergeant Austins at an inquest held today into the death of William MacVeigh, aged 68, a cleaner, before the coroner, Mr. A. Addison. Sergeant Austing said that when he learned of the death he went to the deceased's premises. The tap of the gas ring in the room where the deceased lav was turned off There was a leak, however, in the gas pipe. The break in the nlpe had been repaired with soan tied round with a piece of silk cloth. Gas was escaping from the break. Mr. Addison returned a verdict that death was caused by gas poisoning.
