Guard Tightened Against Sabotage At Navy Docks

(N.Z.P.A. —Reut«r— Copyright.) LONDON, July 24. Additional security precautions, ordered by the Cabinet as a result of evidence of sabotage at Portsmouth, have been taken at the dockyards and all arms depots, says the Daily Telegraph’s political correspondent.

The Cabinet tv as unexpectedly summoned yesterday to consider the interim report of the board of inquiry on the explosion in the ammunition barges on July 7.

Lord Hall. First Lord of the Admiralty, and Sir Hartley Shawcross, the Attorney-General, attended the Cabinet meeting. The presence of the Attorney-General suggests that the Government has further information on which legal action might be based and the short notice given of the Cabinet meeting implies that urgent action was considered necessary. The Daily Express political correspondent says that some members of Parliament suggested last night that the banning of the Communist Party as an illegal organisation was among the subjects discussed at the Cabinet meeting.
