N.Z. GOVT. SEEKING TO CURB EFFECTS OF INFLATION
OTTAWA. July 24
The Montreal Gazette said today that the New Zealand Government is apparently determined gradually to bring the inflationary effects of past policies under control and put the country’s economy on a sounder basis.
The paper, in an editorial, detailed the steps taken by the Government to reduce Government spending while allowing certain prices to rise and said that the “balance that will be struck between deflationary and inflationary factors will thus be on a natural economic base freed of artificially created inflationary factors—the pyramiding of Slate spending and ..the creation of monetary credits on a flimsy basis.”
