INDIA GETTING RID OF PETROL RATIONING

(11 a.m.) NEW DELHI, June 23. India’s petrol consumption is expected to rise by almost 3,000,000 gallons a month as a result of the partial abolition of petrol rationing announced today. Rationing will end on June 30 in Bombay, Madras, Calcutta and their immediate vicinities and in the towns of Cochin and Ernakulam on the southwest coast and in the States of Assam and Manipur. An increase in the ration of 15 per cent, will be made in other areas where limited tank wagon capacity prevents the abolition of rationing at present.
