Auckland’s 10-2 Soccer Win Over Otago In English Trophy Series

(P,A.) AUCKLAND. June 5 Auckland and Wellington soccer teams qualified to the contest final of the English Trophy tourney this afternoon at Blandford Park in consequence of their respective wins over Otago and Canterbury (the latter being the holder) on Saturday. Auckland were flattered by the 10 goals to 2 win over Otago, who played clever football into the Auckland penalty area, but failed to finish movements against the strong Auckland defence. Neute, Auckland centre-forward, in his first major representative match, scored five goals. Masters (3) and Robinson (2) also scored for Auckland. Berry and Warke scored for Otago. The early game between Wellington and Canterbury was thrilling right to the final whistle of extra time. Wei lington won by 3 goals to 2. Canter bury opened the scoring four minutes from the kick-off when a Wellington back shot into his own goal. Yeomans (2) and Unchurch scored for Wellington and G. Smith and a defender scored for Canterbury.
