OPENING DAY ON TURANGANUI LINKS

Ideal weather, the excellent order of the links, and a large gathering of visitors combined to give the Turanganui club an excellent opening of the 1950 golf season. A large field of 46 pairs playing Canadian foursomes saw some excellent scoring, the winners being R. Halbert and Mrs. Halbert, 82-18-63; C. Fletcher and Mrs. A. Davis. 80-15-65; and C. Humhe and Mrs. E. Dewes, 89-23-66.

A feature of the afternoon’s play was a perfect tee shot played oy Mrs. P. Vickers at the short fourth, a distance of 120 yards. The club captain, Mr. A. Clarke welcomed the visitors and wished all the assembled golfers a successful playing season. Mr. T. Tangney and Mr. J. Musgrave, on behalf of the Park and P.B. clubs, extended good wishes to the Turanganui club for the coming season. Special thanks were offered to the ladies’ afternoon' tea committee.
