JUNIOR PLAYER IS WINNER OF MEDAL GAME AT AWAPUNI
EARLY-SEASON GOLF
A further revision of his handicap mark was earned by a junior player on the P.B. Golf Club’s links on Saturday, when F. Gordon, playing on 16, returned a net 68.
There was a good entry for the event, and several excellent cards were returned, considering the stage of the season. The fairways on the Awapuni links are in excellent order,' but the use of temporary greens on four of the holes still presents a bit of a hurdle to uncertain putters, and in the circumstances the scoring on Saturday was particularly good. Second place in the medal competition was won by A. Murray Scott, (handicap 19) with a net 70, and other good cards returned were: D. W. Hardwick (19), 72; B. R. Copeland (24), 72; and J. Fitzmaurice (13), 77. Sufficient entries are now in hand to ensure that the Easter three-day tournament will prove highly enjoyable. The first day will be devoted to two qualifying rounds, after which the entrants will be divided in sixtoens for hvo days of match play. Further entries will be accepted up to Wednesday evening.
