AUSTRALIANS LOSE ONE OF THREE TENNIS MATCHES IN AUCKLAND

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 17. Auckland won one match and lost the other two in lawn tennis exhibition matches with the Australian team of G. Worthington and T. H. Warhurst at the Stanley Street courts yesterday. A. S. Burns, Auckland’s second player, defeated Warhurst, 3-G, 7-5, 6-2. Worthington, the New Zealand singles champion, proved much too good for J. A. Barry, the leading Aucklander, the former winning 6-2, 6-4. In partnership the Australians defeated Barry and Burns, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. The Australians left by air service for Sydney today.
