MARLBOROUGH LEAD IN TANNER CUP SERIES
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. The second and third races in the Tanner Cup series for Tauranga class boats were sailed yesterday and Marlborough now lead on points from Auckland. Auckland finished first in the second race yesterday, but was disqualified for fouling Canterbury in the first lap, while Wellington, who finished fourth was disqualified for fouling a weather mark. Results:—
Second Race. —Auckland, 12hrs. 7min. 47sec. (disqualified), 1; Marlborough, 12hrs. 9min. 57sec., 2; Nelson, 12hrs. 10 min. 43sec„ 3; Wellington. 12hrs. 14min. 9sec. (disqualified), 4; Canterbury, 5; Otago, 6; Hawke’s Bay, 7; Tauranga, 8; West Coast, 9. Third Race.—Marlborough, 4hrs. 24 min. 25sec., 1; Auckland, 4hrs. 25min. 25sec., 2; Canterbury, 4hrs. 26min. 25sec. 3: Nelson, 4; Wellington, 5; Otago, 6; Hawke’s Bay, 7; Bay of Plenty, 8; West Coast, 9.
