FORMER PRESIDENT’S WORK APPRECIATED

In recognition of the services rendered to the industry in Gisborne by the provincial president, Mr. S. McGuinness a recommendation was made at a meeting of the provincial executive of Federated Farmers yesterday that the finance committee favourably consider the provision of an honorarium. The suggestion came from Mr. O. T. Williams, who paid tribute to the work carried out by Mr. McGuinness. His remarks were endorsed by Messrs. C. H. Cooper, F. E. Humphreys and C. H. Williams.

Mr. J. H. Taplin urged that the committee also give consideration to the payment of some remuneration to branch secretaries and of travelling expenses for delegates to provincial meetings from outlying branches.
