OPINIONS SOUGHT ON DECISIONS OF SHEEP COMMISSION
Three questions of particular interest to the farming community and arising out of the report of the Royal Commission into the sheepfarming industry—the Sheep Industry Board, the Marginal Lands Board, and the subsidy on superphosphate—were discussed in committee at a meeting of the meat and wool section executive of Federated Farmers in Gisborne yesterday.
The acting-chairman, Mr. F. E. Humphrey, introduced Mr. Humphry Bayley, Wairoa, to tne meeting as an observer. He said they were the members of the electoral college of the Meat Board representing the district and required to know the view of the district on certain matters. Several of the points in the commission's report were to be referred back to the industry, Mr. Humphreys said. At a meeting in Wellington on August 30 representatives of the Meat Board. Wool Board, meat and wool section and the hill-country committees of the North and South Islands would be called together to consider the report. It was necessary, therefore, for the representatives of the district to have the guidance of the members of the industry within this area. A statement on the setting up of the Sheep Industry Board, prepared by the chairman, Mr. S. D. Reeves, was read to the meeting by the secretary, MrA. J. Stock.
