Home And Family Week Preparations Advanced
Much is planned in the pro gramme for Gisborne’s home and
family week from October 9 to 16.
More preliminary arrangements were made at a well-attended meeting of interested parties last night when reports from the various committees indicated considerable progress in the campaign.
If all goes according to plan, the public will have some authoritative statements on a vital subject for many outside speakers', well versed in such matters, are being invited to visit Gisborne.
One of the features of home and family week is to be an exhibition in the Army Hall throughout the week in which various community organisations are being, invited to participate with demonstrations. Provision has been made for a youth rally, while it is proposed that the week should conclude with a mass meeting in the Opera House. Church Giving Lead The campaign is to be opened with special services in churches, which are fostering home and family week. The programme, is to be financed by donations while guarantees of monetary aid are to be sought. The extent of the programme would determined by this, commented the chairman, the Eev. J. Kingsley Fairbairn. v Mr. M. F. Robinson, convener of the finance committee, reported the receipt of a number of financial grants. Details concerning the programme were outlined bv the Rev. H. Dyson, the Rev. A. L. Silcock and Mr. W. Keith.
