GAULLISTS’ MOVE FOR FRENCH ELECTIONS FAILS

(11 a.m.) PARIS, April 5. The National Assembly today rejected by 358 votes to 46 a de Gaullist proposal for the dissolution of the Assembly and holding of Parliamentary general elections. ■The Communists abstained from voting.

The de Gaullists claimed that the French County Council elections of March had confirmed the previous electoral successes of General de Gaulle’s Rally of the French People and, therefore, the present Assembly no longer represented the will of the country.
