SANDS MAY FIGHT TURPIN FOR EMPIRE TITLE

(10 a-m.) LONDON. April 5. The boxing promoter. Jack Solomons, has applied to the Board of Control for permission to stage an Empire middleweight title contest between Dave Sands and Dick Turpin. Representatives of the world middle>;s weight champion, Marcel Cerdan, who saw Sands’ defeat, said there was now no chance of Cerdan fighting him. Sands said that despite his loss to Yarosz, he would remain in Britain for some time.
