Bitter Fighting Near Rangoon: Martial Law

(11 a.m.) RANGOON, Feb. 11. The Burmese Government today proclaimed martial law in the whole of the Insein district where its forces have been fighting to throw back Karen insurgents. Martial law has already been 2roclaimed in seven other districts. More than 45 British nationals were evacuated today by British Embassy officials from Insein where Government troops have launched an all-out offensive.
