J-FORCE MEN REACH AUCKLAND

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Oct. 5. Members of J Force numbering 549, disembarked from the troopship Duntroon this afternoon. Earlier civic and military officials boarded the ship and extended a welcome. Lieutenant-Colonel R. B. Dawson, in command of the men said that everyone was in the best of health. Two of the men saw more countries than Japan. Private K. S. A. Mac Murray, of Auckland, a member of the intelligence section looked in at Luzon, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai while, with a friend from the field security, Private H. O. Mew, of Hamilton, he contrived to visit Korea. A court-martial found them guilty of absence without leave and reduced them from corporals to privates.
