AIR SEARCH LOCATES OVERDUE LAUNCH
(P.A.) NAPIER. Oct. 1. An air search was necessary to locate the 35ft. cray-fishing launch, Aroha, which failed to return to Napier at the scheduled time yesterday from a fishing trip to Moto Kura Island (otherwise known as Bear Island), 14 miles south of Cape Kidnappers. The launch left Napier at noon on Wednesday and was due to return at 3 p.m. yesterday. The Aroha was not back this morning and could not be seen off the coast at Waimarama and fears were entertained for her safety. The Hawke’s Bay-East Coast Aero Club’s Tiger Moth flew out this morning and found the launch sheltering from a gale on the seaward side of the island.
The two men aboard. Messrs. John Augustus Jeanes and Vincent Horne, are both married.
