VISIT BY DEACONESS TO RUATORIA

(Herald Corresponueni.) Sister Avery, deaconess of the Presbyterian Church, was a visitor to Ruatoria over the week-end. Following the church service which she conducted on Sunday Sister Avery gave a talk on the Youth Movement. On Monday she visited the Manutahi District High School where she was welcomed by the children with Maori action songs and hakas. Mr. and Mrs. McSkimming. Mrs. West and Mr. V. J. Mai were also guests at the school. Following an address by Sister Avery the guests were entertained at afternoon tea by the senior pupils. In the evening members of the Presbyterian Women's Mission Union were addressed at the home of Mrs. E. Hamilton by Sister Avery who dealt with various phases of her work. There was a very good attendance. Sister Avery's programme would keep her visiting schools during the week after which she plans to spend a month in Gisborne.
