GAS WORKERS OPPOSE CONSCRIPTION

(P-A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 30. The _ Auckland gas workers overwhelmingly voted against compulsory military service at the annual general meeting of their union today. Speakers said that peacetime conscription was a totalitarian edict irreconcilable with democratic government. Officers elected included the following: President, Mr. G. P. Graydon; vice-president, Mr. C. C. Earlee; secretary, Mr. J. Kane.
