COAL MINES NOT YET WORKING NORMALLY

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Aug. 3. The Waikato coal mines are not yet working normally. The Renown mine employing about 250 men is idle today The miners have been discussing reports from their union dealing particularly with the dispute which led to the action by the deputies.

There were full attendances today at all other collieries which were working. Pithead meetings were held at 8 o'clock at the Renown. Pukerniro, Glen Afton and Macdonald mines. Three meetings continued until 9.30 when ihe men began work. At the Renown mine the meeting lasted until 10 o’clock. Two hours having elapsed, a reinspection of the mine had then to be made. This left small prospect of a start by the men today so they returned home.
