CROCKERY SHORTAGE CAUSES CONCERN

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 15. Serious concern is being expressed by restaurants, hotels, hospitals and public institutions in Wellington over the acute shortage of heavy-duty crockery. The matron of a large Wellington hostel said she had been forced on account of the lack of plates and utensils to conduct meals in sittings. An hotel manager said he had been forced to serve odd plates and dishes. “The position is most anomalous,” said a local importer. “The Health Department inspectors are condemning crockery in use in restaurants, and yet these restaurants are quite unable to obtain suitable ware.”
