PRESIDENT'S CUP PLAY
Play in the second round in the President’s Cup and Flight of the Gisborne x-arK Gou Lxuo produced some interesting games. Results were: President's Cup.—W. bury d. J. Adeane, 4 and 3; T. Bayliss d. J. Watt, 4 and 2; Don bomernelu ct. Luck Kicnardson, 3 and 2; D. Hamilton d. N. Williams, 2 and 1.
Might.—L. Jackson d. E. Bayliss, 3 arid 2; Hook d. W. Morton, on the 22nd; Dick Quinn took r rank Dobbie to the 19th. Saturday's medal competition resulted in a win for W. Bury, whose figures were 73-15-63. He was closely followed by a promising junior, L. Machines, with 34-20-64. Other leading carus were tnose of the following: A. Tair, 32-15-67; M. 'laylor, 33-10-6 r, L. Gavin, 87-20-67; R. B. Watt. 84-15-69; L. Gavin, 76- F. Adcroft. 87-17-70; B. Corbett 82-12-70; L. Lunken, 83-12-71; D. Neal 80-18-71 i C. Fletcher won the Bogey sweepstake 5 up. His card read: 75-12-63. Other notable cards were those of R. Muir, 74-6-68, all square; C. Corbett, 77- 1 up; D. Neal, 84-18-66, 1 down; N. Williams, 82-11-71, 2 down; F. Dobbie, 80-9-71, 2 down; F. Adcroft, 84-17-67, 2 down; L. Mclnnes, 87-17-70, 2 down. In the Lunken Challenge Cup S. Parker and Mrs. Innes, lour times successful went down 5 and 4, to a strong combination in L. Roderick and Miss H. Ballanlyne. J. Jackson and R. Jones won the Dryland Cup from W. Horton and D. Bell, 2 up. TURANGANUI GOLF The amended draw for the first round of the Hineikoia Cup series of the Turanganui Golf Club is: Mesdames Robb and Goodwin, Dewes and Brady, Crack and B Kaua, Dolman and Miss Beiliss, Houlahan and Ria, Dixon and Pyke, Miss Ogilvie and Miss Ellis, Tait and M. Kaua. Reserves are Misses Stewart and Dolman. A nine-hole medal round is to be played on Saturday by Mesdames Underdown, Newman, Warren and Misses McLean, Fouhy, Wilson, J. Breingan, B. Breingan, C Breingan, Doreen and O'Donoghue. The third round of the Moanaroa Cup series is to be played this week. The draw is: K. Goodwin and T. McMurray, R. Dolman and C Hume, J. Kaua and L. Hughes, H. Croskery and R. Rare, P. Kaua and C. Bothamley, M. Doyle and C. Read, R. Halbert and L. Freeman, K. Bothamley and C. Farmer. Last week's Stableford competition resulted: P. Kaua 37; W. Cotter, 36; R. Rare, 35; C. Read, 35. W. Cotter, 82-18-64, won the medal competition from R. Rare 83-19-64 on the count back. The next best were G. Farmer, 76-10-66; J. Kaua, 88-20-68; R. Dolman, 84-16-68. Golf Pro’s Demonstration Sponsoxed by district golf clubs, a demonstration to be given by Mr. John Watt, golf professional, at the National Party rooms on Thursday evening should be of interest to all followers of the sport. The demonstrator is a prominent member of the professional ranks with an outstanding tournament record, and is under retainer to Messrs. Slazengers, Limited. He will give an exposition of points in the swing and will deal with specific faults and their correction.
