SYDNEY GANGSTER WAS KIDNAPPED

SYDNEY, June 14. Detectives have found that the gangster whose battered body was found in a storm-water canal last Thursday was kidnapped outside a picture theatre in the suburb of Lidcombe the previous night and “taken for a ride.” He. left his home at 9 p.m. and was walking along the footpath near the theatre when he was seized by two men and forced into a waiting sedan car. The men thrust him into the back seat beside another man who was already seated, and the car sped away with the feet still protruding through the open rear door. The incident was reported by theatre patrons who were standing outside during the interval.
