TASMAN FLYING BOATS TO RESUME THIS WEEK

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. June i 5 An augmented air service between Auckland and Sydney, which is to begin on Thursday with the return to service of three of the four rtying-boats which have been grounded since Febraurv 23. may be continued for some time.

The genera! manager of Tasman Empire Airways, Limited, Mr. G. N. Roberts said the present arrangement for charter flights by Australian National Airways expired at the end of this month but that negotiations for an extension of the charters were in progress, at least until the end of June and possibly for *ome time afterward.

There would be 12 return flights across the Tasman each week, he added. Six would be madet by the Australian company's Skymasters and six bv Tasman Airways flying-boats. Thus there would be capacity to carry about 800 people a week across the Tasman as long as the augmented service continued. With certificates of airworthiness returned for three of the company’s fly-ing-boats. preparations were now being made to despatch one of them for Sydney on Thursday morning. He added that the order in which the aircraft would be flown had not yet been decided.
