MORE POWERS FOR JAPANESE

(10 30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 13. The Far Eastern Commission has approved a resolution which authorises members of General MacArthur’s occupation staff <to attend inter-govern-mental conferences as non-voting observers and permits Japanese "technicians" also to attend when General MacArthur approves. Motions pending before the commission are, firstly, to authorise a Japanese Travel Abroad for educational and cultural purposes; secondly, to authorise foreign travel by Japanese for business purposes.

Members of the commission said objections to the latter proposal had alrof.civ been voiced by Allied Pacific nations because of the restrictions imposed by General MacArthur on visits by Allied businessmen to Japan.
