MALAN REGIME TO RELEASE 5 PRISONERS

PRETORIA, June 11

The Government will release immediately five political prisoners convicted of treason and sabotage during the war. said the Minister of Justice, Mr. C. R. Swart. They are Sydney Robey Liebrandt, who was landed in South-West Africa from a Nazi submarine, Kan Adrian Strauss and Michael Pienaar, who broadcast Nazi propaganda from Berlin, and Julian David-Wisser and Hendrik Stephanus van Blerlc. who blew up a post office in 1942, killing one European. Mr. Swart said the Government desired to "relieve people from the strain of war and end all the unpleasantness and rancour which flowed from it.”
