DESERTED WAR BRIDES AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. GIRLS (10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 27. Hundreds of Australian and New Zealand "iris who had married Americans during the war had been working in San Francisco to earn their fares home, said a Sydney marine engineer who has returned from the United States.

Confirming this immigration officials in Canberra said that only a few apolioetions for financial assistance had been made to the department, although hundreds of requests had been made to Australian consular offices from American ex-servicemen married to Australian eirls for permission to migrate to Australia. F'"bty ner cent, of the Americans seeking to enter Australia were married to Australian girls.
