ANZAC DAY IN JAPAN

8.C.0.F. OBSERVANCE 1400 TROOPS ON PARADE (10 a.m.) , KURE, April 27. Over 1400 men, representing Australian, New Zealand and British units of the 8.C.0.F., together with a detachment of United States troops from two military government teams, paraded on Sunday at Anzac Park, Kure, commemorating the third-third anniversary of the Galliooli landing. The Commander-in-Chief of the 8.C.0.F., Lieut.-General H. C. H. Robertson, took the salute, and invested 12 servicemen with decorations won during the World War 11. Among them was Captain V. H. Gilchrist, of Invercargill, who received the Military Medal. Among the senior officers at the saluting base was the commander of the N.Z. Brigade in Japan, Brigadier L. Potter. Following the parade. 44 Corsair and Mustang aircraft of the R.N.Z.A.F. and the R.A.A.F. flew over in squadron formation and later returned with a full flight in perfect formation spelling out the word Anzac.
