TOKOMARU BAY NEWS

R.S.A. ANNUAL MEETING (Herald Correspondent.) With Mr. P. McCallum in the chair, 32 members of the Tokomaru Bay R.S.A. sub-union held their annua) meeting on Sunday immediately after the Anzac service. After standing in silence in memory of those who did not return, members heard a brief report on the doings of the past year from the president. He thanked the committee for its support during the year and spoke warmly of the work done by the secretary, Mr. W. C. Brydon. He intimated that he would not be seeking re-election this year. The balance sheet showed a very healthy position and was passed with gratifying comment. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. A. B. Williams, re-elected; president, Mr. E. J. Knox; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. McMillan, S. Lyle-Smythe W. S. Thompson, F. R. JefTerd, J. Busby, A. N. Wilkins, A. Morgan and T. G. Beavon, all re-elected, and P. McCallum; secretary, Mr. W. C. Brydon, re-elected; treasurer, a new office, Mr. E. Wheeler; committee, Messrs. Wahanui, F. Bignell, S. Ahuriri, K. Teohaere, E. Ransley, W. J. Oates, P. McCallum, A. N. Wilkins and J. N. King; auditor, Mr. 11. Brown. It was again decided to hold the annual dance on a suitable day near the King's Birthday and also to hold two reunions during the year. There was considerable discussion as to the venue of the annual Anzac Day parade and service. Opinions were very divided, some members favouring the present scheme of holding both at Te Puka Hall, while others thought that they should be held .outside, at the War Memorial. One suggestion that found favour was that the parade should be held at the memorial and the service in the Centennial Hall. The matter was left to the incoming committee to decide

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr. Wheeler for the use of the hall.
