ALL BRITISH NATIONALS TO QUIT PALESTINE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
(11a.m.) JERUSALEM, April 19. All British nationals have been warned to leave Palestine as soon as possible. A statement from the British Government issued through the Palestine Government says they will stay at their own risk after May 15. The British Government says it cannot accept liability for losses incurred by British subjects who abandon their properties or businesses in accordance with the Government’s advice to leave Palestine.
Arabs took over the British outpost of Beni Yusha, north of Safad, after the Palestine police had evacuated it. The British United Press’ correspondent says that both Jews and Arabs had been waiting for the British to move out as the outpost is a readymade fortress. The Jewish Agency has instructed all Jewish members now serving with I the Palestine Government to remain •at their posts when the British man[date finishes on May 15 “to prevent j damage to public services.” Jews and Arabs in the past few I months have stolen at the gun-point lor from parking places 400 vehicles, including 100 belonging to the Government, which has threatened to requisition all private vehicles if the thefts continue. The Haganah claimed the capture of Hanna Azouri, an important Arab comjmander, while he was reconnoitring I Jewish defensive positions in Jerusalem.
