‘PROTOCOL M’ DISCLOSURES ALLEGED RED PLOT (10 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Questioned in the House of Commons on the authenticity of the document known as “Protocol M” which alleged a Communist plot in Western Germany, the Minister of State, Mr. Hector McNeil, said the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Ernest Bevin, wanted it made clear that he could only conclude that the authenticity of the document was in doubt. There had been developments in Germany, however, which corresponded to the statements made in the ‘•Protocol.” There were strong indications that even if the document was not authentic, it had been compiled from authoritative Communist sources. Information in the British Government’s possession corroborated that.
