GIANT TOMATOES RESIST DROUGHT

American Climbing Giant tomatoes have been grown in Gisborne from seed by Mr. It. B. Foote, Vogel street. They © Grow 20ft. in height. © Produce fruit all the year round. © Arc drought resisting. © And yield 2001 b. of tomatoes a year. Mr. Foot obtained the seed from Australia and planted it last November. The average size of the fruit has been 3jin. to sin in diameter. Two tomatoes which were brought into the Herald office today weighed lib. 4oz. and lib. 2oz. respectively, and both measured a little more than sin. across. s So far there has been no opportunity of testing the annual yield, but Mr. Foote has hopes that the plants will produce all the year round.
