POOR QUALITY EXPORTS

AUSTRALIAN GOODS COMPLAINTS TO CANBERRA (11 a.m.) CANBERRA, Dec. 13Australian trade commissioners in New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong have accused some Australian firms of exporting poor quality goods, faulty packing and discourtesy. Their complaints are published in the Commerce and Agriculture Department’s magazine “Overseas Trading.’’ The Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr H. Wrigley, said the trade had recently rejected a large consignment of Australian hand knitting wools because of faulty dyeing. The importer had removed the maker’s name from the wool and sold it at public auction to a very strong demand. Mr Wrigley said he had received many complaints about the packing of Australian goods. The trade commissioners in South Africa and Hong Kong quoted similar complaints.
