“LOTTERY RACKET”

COMPLAINTS TO CANBERRA (9 a.m.) MELBOURNE. Nov. 13. An international lottery racket in Australia is disclosed in a statement by the Postmaster-General, Senator D. Cameron, who said that the Malayan and South African Governments had complained that large numbers of postal articles containing prohibited lottery literature were being received from Australia. Under the South African law. he said, correspondence containing lottery tickets was passed to the returned letter office for disposal. In Ceylon, Singapore and the Malayan Union the laws provided for the interception and destruction of lottery tickets and literature.
