GOLF AT AWAPUNI
SMALL PROGRAMME MEDAL ROUNDS PLAYED The week-end was a quiet one on the P.B. Golf. Club's links at Awapuni, many members being engaged in other directions and the programme being limited to a medal match on Saturday and the winding-UD of the current tankard medal competition. In the medal match J. H. Orrell (handicap 12) won on the countback from M. R. Maude. (10), both scoring net 73’s. J. L. South (24) and D. W. Hardwick (18) both registered 74, and J Coutts (16) netted 76. Other good scores were those of J. Crawford-Smith (16) and W. D. Armstrong (3), whose net rounds were both 77.. A test round played in the tankard medal competition brought J. Craw-ford-Smith’s aggregate net score for three rounds to 217. and won for him the trophy. His previous selected rounds were 70 and 70. and his 77 in the test round was a good effort likewise. J. Coutts (16) was placed second in the competition with a score of 71-73-76-220; and other prominent competitors were G. H. Stewart (6), 71-70-80-221: J. H. Orrell (12). 74-74-73-221; W. D. Armstrong (3). 70-76-77-223: W. Mason (16), 71-69-85-225; and N. J. Dalev (24). 73-72-81-226.
