BRILLIANT GOLF
KITTO AT WANGANUI SILK BEATEN 7 AND 6 (P.A.) WANGANUI, Oct. 20. Playing brilliant golf under tricky conditions, A. R. Kitto beat B. M. Silk 7 up and 6 to play over 36 holes in the final of the Wanganui Golf Club’s championship on Saturday. Kitto played a 'steady game during the morning round to be five up, a handicap which was too much for Silk. Kitto. who is a member of the North Island team and whose non-selection in the New Zealand team to meet the Australians caused surprise in Wanganui. outclassed Silk in every department. His putting in particular was deadly. Kitto made few mistakes and in the afternoon his display was masterly. He went round in the morning in 71 and in the afternoon required par figures at the last four holes to equal the course record of 67. A put which lipped the cup at the 17th robbed him and his card was 68. He went out in 36 and in in 32, five strokes below par figures.
